Affordable Travel Guide to Hotel Concierge

Hotel concierges are a valuable vacation partner

Hotel Concierge

Everyone visits the check-in desk at their hotel, but how many times have you passed by the concierge desk and not taken advantage of this excellent service offered by hotels? People tend to think there is a cost to using a hotel concierge; there isn’t. What “cost” there is will be included in your room night charges whether you use the service or not.

A hotel concierge is your ambassador to the city where you are staying; he or she knows all there is to know about local attractions, dining, shows and transportation. Where to shop for vintage and funky or for high-end designer clothing, and which galleries sell the kind of art you are collecting.

Area entertainment facilities often grace top hotel concierges with tickets for ball games, hockey games, hit musicals or rock concerts, and sometimes these are handed off free. But you have to ask the concierge!

If you can’t find the tickets, passes or information you want, your hotel concierge has a contact list, some of that “insider” in nature, and odds are he or she will find just what you need. And that counts for things like tickets to major exhibits right down to where you can buy a toothbrush. Day trips can be arranged, discounts are for the asking, and you can find out where the locals eat, play and visit.

Hotel concierges are a fountain of information, and even if you have done your location research long before you departed on your trip, your hotel concierge knows tips and facts that you could not otherwise find. Trained to be gracious, friendly and helpful, a hotel concierge can be your best friend in a strange place. Just ask. Hotel concierges are there for you. Beyond the desk clerks and the bellhops, they are your aide in making the most of your vacation or business trip.
