Affordable Travel Guide to Club Med All Inclusive Resorts

Flexible, Fun and Fairly Affordable for Everyone

Club Med All Inclusive Resorts

In its heyday in the 1970s, Club Med had a reputation for being (at best) a meat market for singles and at its worst, a den of iniquity. Fast forward to a more mature world with an older population and you have the Club med of today. Sure, there are still five of 71 Club Med Resorts in 30 countries that are “adults over 18 only”, but those can include adult couples, not just singles, who don’t want to vacation where there are kids around.

What was once a place to meet and, well, do whatever, is now geared to families and couples as well as singles, and in fairness Club Med is widely regarded as the original among the collection of all inclusive resorts; it was never intended to be a singles vacation pick-up location. Because the punitive singles supplements that other resorts imposed, Club Med quickly attracted solos and earned a reputation it had not developed itself. Still, income is income and for decades Club Med cashed in.

But it has evolved. It’s still a safe, friendly, not madly expensive all inclusive vacation that average people can enjoy and afford. With resorts (“villages” as Club Med calls them) in locales such as Florida, Mexico, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, South America and North America, offering beaches, skiing, golfing and spa life, it’s got most of us covered.

The only complaint we hear about Club Med all inclusive resorts is that some are décor-dated, but the company, based in Paris and begun in 1950, is methodically spending multiple millions of dollars to upgrade; they just can’t do all 71 simultaneously. While some Club Med resorts are on beaches or in ski villages, others float, literally, as ship cruises and yachts. There are as many different Club Med options as there are travelers. Pick one, kick back and enjoy.

Club Med all inclusive vacations include everything. The big advantage to that is that you can’t go over your travel budget, so you can relax and have fun with that knowledge. Included in the fixed price are such things as the basics, like airfare, transfers and accommodations, but also the nice little perquisites like open bar all day and night, gourmet dining and snacks, all sports and other activities (such as entertainment), extras like lessons at the ski resorts and lift tickets, and child care.

Cruising the Club Med website inadvertently makes it harder to decide which all inclusive vacation to choose; it’s a heck of a busy website, but perhaps that’s intentional. By the time you’re done surfing the site, you need a vacation! Club Med lets you go budget or luxury, and offers different options at their various properties; some are more geared to opulence, others toward a family-friendly low-cost vacation package. It’s up to you where you go at what level of luxury.

Now that its image is more even, less single-sex oriented, Club Med is more widely accepted and enjoyed. With more than 60 years in the all inclusive resort business, odds are Club Med has got your travel needs covered. It’s a safe bet for fun in the sun or on the slopes.
