Bloody Mary's

That last place you would think to find on a small island in the South Pacific is a five-star restaurant, but Bloody Mary’s is just that, and more. Established in late 1979 by an Australian of Polish descent, known as Baron George, and made from local jungle timber and bamboo, the place was a hit from the day it opened its doors.

Serving lunch and dinner six days a week, and specializing in seafood (appropriately) and steak, when visitors walk in the door they invariably say that they feel like they’re on a movie set. Gilligan’s Island Redux? Maybe... Given that everywhere on Bora Bora has a view of the mountains, it’s no surprise that’s the vista seen from Bloody Mary’s, too.

Bloody Mary’s on Bora Bora stages live music events, and perhaps has drawn from that in part for its wall of fame; a list of famous people (some of them A-Listers) who have eaten there. It has a pier where sailboats and motorized watercraft may anchor, a yacht club and a store for cool souvenirs. In a place as small as Bora Bora, most commercial enterprises cover more than one purpose.
